Snapchat Strikes Back With Its New Features!

Table of Contents
To keep up with its competitors, Snapchat has recently added some new features. Will these features help Snapchat not only gain users, but possibly beat out its social media competitors? Only time will tell. The new features include SnapMap tracker, Crowd Surf, and a Pikachu filter. So, let us take a look at what these features can do!
Pikachu All The Way!
If you are a fan of Pokémon or the Pokémon Go game, you have probably already used this amazing filter! It transforms your face into Pikachu along with the character itself appearing, lightening and all. What Pokemon fan wouldn’t love this! Even though this Pikachu filter is only available for a limited time, Snapchat will definitely benefit from it. Below is how the filter would appear!
In the short run, having face filters relating to trending topics like Pokémon Go will grow Snapchat’s user count. However, whether those users stay is another story. Only time will tell.
Crowd Surf
For Snapchat users who LOVE music concerts and events, isn’t it annoying only being able to watch 10-second clips? Snapchat has come up with a solution: Crowd Surf.
What is it and How does it work?
Using AI tech, Crowd Surf can recognize and monitor when multiple people are snapping at a music concert and combine the clips to make a video compilation. It creates a smooth video of the song that’s being performed while providing different angles of the stage. Recently, Tech Crunch tested this feature out at a Lorde concert while singing her hit, “Green Light.” Below is their video of using Crowd Surf:
This is Snapchat’s move to one-up its competitors. It will be interesting to see what other social media platforms will come up with to compete with this new feature.
SnapMap
On June 21st, 2017, Snapchat released their new feature SnapMap. With it, users can see where their friends are and what they are up to on a map. Personally, I wouldn’t want my friends tracking me and knowing where I am at all times. Luckily, you can switch to Ghost Mode so you are not visible on SnapMap to your friends. It’s basically a tracker GPS app to find where your friends are at. Want to learn more? Click here to watch the SnapMap promotional video.
With these new Snapchat features, users have much to look forward to! What do you think of these new features? Let us know on Twitter!
